Overall, it doesn't work so well as a stand-alone introduction to the traditional Central Asian textiles, and definitely takes a bit of extra research to understand how things described in text look like or how certain production techniques work, but nevertheless it is a rather beautifully printed book that can act as a concise introduction to Cited by: 6.
Excellent book with beautiful photographs of textiles, traditional clothing, decorative items such as door hanging. Although this book has been expanded, many of the photographs were the same as the book Indian Textiles by the same author.
Some of the same photos were actually smaller, and for me less impressive. The information was more by: Fibres and dyes. Māori made textiles from a number of plants, including harakeke, wharariki, tī kōuka, tōī, pingao, kiekie and toetoe—although the paper mulberry was introduced by Māori, who knew it as aute,  it seems not to have thrived and bark cloth was always rare.
